I don’t get it

Swiss Chalet’s pricing policies confuse me.

If you order a chicken dinner online from them, you are entitled to select one side dish. However, if you order side dishes separately, their price varies: for example, a Garden Salad costs $3.89, and a side of fries is $2.29.

This means that a chicken dinner with fries and a side salad costs more than a chicken dinner with salad and a side of fries – even though it’s exactly the same amount of food in both cases.

I think Harvey’s – who are owned by the same people – do the same thing. Strange.

That may be, but maybe the garden salad is bigger than the order of fries, it would make sense to price it higher.
if you are going to order the two sides, do the obvious thing and order the cheapest. Same food for less money? I’ll take that.
