Snow walking

20 12 2008

I know next to nothing about Zen, but I would guess that walking in the city just after a big snowfall is a very Zen-like activity.

When I am walking in the snow, I am too busy to think about the past or the future. I have to focus all my mental energy on figuring out how to clamber over that pile of snow without turning my ankle, or whether that particular stretch of sidewalk contains an ice patch that can cause me to slip and fall.
