R.I.P. The Willow

20 10 2010

I just found out yesterday that the Willow, a Tex-Mex restaurant on the Danforth, is now out of business (and apparently has been for a while):

This used to be the hangout for improvisers and other performers after performing at the Bad Dog Theatre, which is across the street. I’ve had at least one birthday party here. The restaurant had gone downhill in the last year or so, but I’m still sad that it is gone.

On my way home from photographing this, I stopped to put my jacket on and nearly elbowed a large African-Canadian (is that the right word?) man in the head. I apologized profusely, and the man looked at me earnestly and said, “You don’t need to apologize for putting on a jacket! It’s a good world!” He shook my hand, I wished him a nice day, and we went our separate ways.
