Weather porn

21 07 2011

I don’t know about you, but I kind of enjoy reading about extreme weather if I’m in no danger of being threatened by it. Call it weather porn, if you will. So I’m kind of cheering on today’s heat and humidity – can it break all-time records?

As I type this, the temperature at Pearson Airport is 37.1°C. The all-time highest temperature ever in Toronto, according to this site, is 38.3°C, set on August 25, 1948, so July 21, 2011 has only 1.2 degrees to go. Come on! You can do it!

The all-time humidex record is within reach too, as the current humidex is 48 (above 45 is considered dangerous). The all-time high is 50.3°C, set on July 14, 1995. So we could still beat that, too. Let’s do this!

Totally unrelated to anything (I say that a lot) – here’s a song that came up on my iTunes today, while I was hiding from the heat:

There’s no meaning to putting this here – I just like this song.
