Searching for Sugar Man

If you’re looking for a fascinating and enjoyable movie, you should check out “Searching for Sugar Man”. It tells the story of Rodriguez, a Detroit-based singer-songwriter who released two albums in the early 1970s that were critically acclaimed but didn’t sell, and who left the music business to become a manual labourer. Unbeknownst to him, his music became wildly popular in South Africa, selling as well there as the Beatles or Elvis.

The movie tells the story of two South Africans – a record store owner and a journalist – who wanted to learn what became of Rodriguez. I won’t give away what happens next, other than to say that I recommend this movie to you.
