“King of Spain” by Moxy Früvous

YouTube is wonderful; you can find almost anything there now. Somebody has uploaded the original Moxy Früvous cassette, including the best version of “King of Spain”:

I saw them at Ontario Place in the 1990s, when they were at the peak of their popularity. I remember that they opened with a song in which they hoped that Ron MacLean would finally lose it and punch out Don Cherry. About this time, they decided that they wanted to write Serious Songs, which I didn’t like quite as much.

Moxy Früvous existed until 2000. Former band member Jian Ghomeshi now hosts a talk show on CBC.
