“Keep On The Sunny Side” by The Carter Family

27 08 2013

For a while, years ago, the Emusic subscription service allowed you to download as much music as you wanted for a flat monthly fee. So I did – I wandered here and there through their catalog. One album I found was a collection of the Carter Family’s best recordings from 1927 through 1934, including this:

The original Carter Family were A.P. Carter, his wife Sara, and Maybelle Carter, who was married to A.P.’s brother. They began recording in 1927, and this song (according to Wikipedia) dates to 1928. The next generation of Carters (including June Carter, who married Johnny Cash) started helping out in the 1930s. The original Carter Family disbanded in 1944, after A.P. and Sara divorced.
