“General Hand Grenade” by Trooper

10 09 2013

For some reason, this song got stuck in my head today, even though I haven’t heard it in ages. So here you go – the story of General Hand Grenade and Isabella Band Aid:

This is from their first album, released in 1975. Trooper are from Vancouver. They’re still around, and are Canadian cultural icons by now, performing at events such as the Winter Olympics and the Grey Cup. Wikipedia informs me that Trooper has had 15 songs in the Canadian top 50 charts, but only once even made it into the top 100 in the US (“Raise A Little Hell” reached #59). Wistful sigh.
